Highway 12 Project Area
The Highway 12 Project Area was created to relocate Highway 12 from West Texas Street to its present location. Highway 12 provided access to the two largest business parks in the city, including the Anheuser Busch Brewery. The Redevelopment Agency also funded public infrastructure improvements, facilitated the issuance of Industrial Development Bonds, recruited new businesses, and issued tax rebates for manufacturing businesses.
The Agency also facilitated development of the Fairfield Auto Mall. A second phase of road reconstruction is planned in 2010 for the eastern section of Auto Mall Parkway from the Honda and Acura dealerships to Home Depot.
A long term priority for the Agency is to implement the 80 to 80 Corridor Plan, and in particular install landscaping and urban design amenities along West Texas Street.
