Youth Sports

The City of Fairfield’s Youth Sports program is centered around, but not restricted to, seasonal team and individual sports. Our philosophy of "Youth First, Winning Second" is reflected in the extensive and continual training of recreation staff in preparation for each season. Our positive Youth Sports opportunities are designed to enhance and build positive recreational experiences and healthy lifelong habits.
We follow a "no cut" policy focusing our efforts on teaching responsibility, sportsmanship, game rules, fundamental skills, and strategy. Care is given to teach participants how to concentrate on the things they can control and to develop a healthy attitude toward hard work (practice), team concepts, and positive, healthy competition.

Our objective is to implement positive values and principles through which participants develop confidence, emotional self-control, and respect for themselves and others. Our Youth Sports programs offer opportunities for team-building and making friends of the same age. Basketball League

We offer recreational league basketball three times a year. Leagues are coed and children will have fun while learning and improving their basketball skills. All levels of players are welcome and volunteer coaches are always needed. We are currently taking registrations for Summer Hoops which begins July 11.

Practices are arranged by space availability and typically games are played on Saturdays during the following timeframes:

  • Ages 4-7 in the a.m.
  • Ages 8-9 in the mid a.m.
  • Ages 10 and up in the late a.m. to early p.m. 

Create a love for basketball or T-Ball through FUNdamentals! Your child can learn basic skills in a fun, safe, and non-competitive environment.


The City of Fairfield has a variety of soccer programs available for children ages 4+. 

Coach Fernando's Indoor Soccer Clinics will teach children the fundamentals of soccer while developing new skills and making friends. The program runs on Friday evenings at the following times:

  • Ages 4-6 from 5:30-6:20 p.m.
  • Ages 7-9 from 6:30-7:20 p.m.
  • Ages 10-12 from 7:40-8:40 p.m.     

Indoor Soccer League starts up again in the Spring of 2015 for youth ages 4-14. Participants will learn the fundamentals of soccer, develop new skills, and meet new friends in this fun environment. .


The Junior Tennis program for ages 7-12 introduces tennis related techniques, movement, and the concept of rallying. The program uses tennis-related games designed to help the student learn how to keep score and employ the strategies involved in playing the game. Classes are taught by USNTA and PTR certified level PO-1 instructor Calvin McCullough (Coach Mac). Lessons are held on Fridays at the Allan Witt Park tennis courts. Come join the fun!
