Getting Started with Real Player

Real Player is software that is required in order to view our video clips. After downloading the software on your system, you will be able to view the City of Fairfield City Council Meetings as well as the live 24 hour webcast of Channel 26, the City's Government Access Channel. 

Real Player Minimum System Requirements:

Windows:

- 350MHz Intel Pentium II processor or equivalent
- 64MB of RAM(128MB on Windows XP or later)
- 52MB available disk space
- 28.8Kbps modem (audio only)
- 16-bit sound card and speakers
- 65,000-color video display card set to display at 800x600 (video)
- Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2 or later, or Windows XP
- IE 5.0 or later

Recommended

- 500 MHz Intel Pentium III processor or greater (supports simultaneous record/playback features)
- 128MB of RAM
- High-speed Internet connection (audio/video)
- Full Duplex sound card and speakers
- 65,000-color video display card set to display at 800x600 or higher (video)
- CD writer (for CD burning features)
- 700+ MB available disk space for writing Media and MP3 CDs (not required for audio CDs)
- DVD player and DVD playback software (for DVD playback)
- Analog recording requires an inline audio cable or microphone.
- Windows XP
- Internet Explorer 6.0 or later
- Windows Media Player 9.0 or later
- QuickTime 6.4 or later
- If using Screen-Reader software: JAWS (v4.02 or greater recommended) or WindowEyes (v4.21 or greater)

To Download Real Player click on the icon below.  When the RealOne page appears, click on Free Real Player, this link is located on the upper right hand side of the screen.  Once you click on this link, another page will come up.  On this new page scroll your browser window to the very bottom.  Click on Download the Free Real Player Only located on the lower right side of screen.   Follow the on screen download instructions.  A security window may pop up asking if you want to Install and Run RealDownload.  Click yes and the program will automatically be installed.

Mac OSX Users-

Go to http://www.real.com/ and scroll down the screen.  On the bottom right of the page, there is a section called "Get More Software"  Click on Real Player for Mac OSX and follow the instructions.

If you use a Macintosh with Operating System version 9.2 and below or have an older PC that does not meet the Real Player minimum system requirements, then you should download RealPlayer 8 basic below.

Macintosh:

G3 (or faster) or Intel Core Solo/Duo processor, Mac OS X compatible
Internet connection

To Download RealPlayer click on the icon below. When the Real page appears, click on System Requirements near the middle of the screen. Now a pop up window will appear.  Scroll down until you see the following message:

Click here for a previous player version.

Click on previous player version and follow the instructions.
