Chemistry of Fire

Fire has been an important part of all cultures and religions, from pre-history to modern day, and was vital to the development of civilization. It has been regarded in many different fashions throughout history.  When used in controlled settings, it provides warmth, cooked food, and energy.  But when used improperly, fire can be one of the most destructive forces on earth. 

The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and Discovery Education has created an interactive website for high schoolers and teachers called The Chemistry of Fire.  This site is an excellent resource for downloading informative posters and teaching guides for the classroom, videos, and other resources for fire prevention education.
