Our Partners in the Community
The Fairfield Fire Department has a long history of cooperative interaction with our local business, health, and educational institutions. These partnerships go well beyond the mere sharing of resources. They help strengthen the Fairfield community by enhancing our city's emergency response capabilities.
Solano Community College
Fairfield Fire Department is currently working with the Solano College Fire Technology Department to provide various State Fire Marshal sanctioned classes. A memorandum of understanding has been signed by representatives of both agencies, which allows these classes to be held at various department facilities. This partnership benefits both agencies because it allows Fairfield Fire personnel convenient access to the classes while simultaneously providing a higher course enrollment for the College.
North Bay Medical Center (NBMC)
Our partnership with NBMC lead to the development of protocols and training programs for use of advanced 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG) units. These state of the art diagnostic systems allow our paramedics to quickly and accurately assess cardiac patients in the field, and sends the information via radio telemetry back to the hospital. This technology allows emergency physicians to rapidly review and direct additional early treatment to help lessen the impact of heart attacks.
Custom Restoration and their partner company, 1-800-BOARDUP, donated all materials and labor to construct a structural fire trainer that allows crews to train under realistic fire conditions, while maintaining a high degree of safety. The training system is low cost, easy to assemble and disassemble for storage, and can be configured for different types of fire training.
Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District
The Sewer District provides space for the structural fire trainer, as well as allowing access to 2 large fields for annual wildland fire training. As part of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) which names the Fairfield Fire Department as the primary 911 response agency, the Sewer District also provides rescue team members with locations for confined space and high-angle rescue training per Cal-OSHA requirements.
Anheuser-Busch Brewery, and Waterman Water Treatment Plant
Both the brewery and water treatment plant have also established MOU's with the department for primary 911 emergency response. Both have hosted confined space rescue training, as well as hazardous materials (hazmat) response exercises for the Solano County Hazardous Materials Response Team.
Travis AFB Fire Department
Members of the Travis Fire Department participate in combined training with the county hazmat team.
Provides department paramedics with Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support training. The department has donated office and storage space to Medic Ambulance at Fire Station 38. This location provides a central point for ambulance crews to restock supplies and perform minor vehicle maintenance, helping to reduce response times.
