Fireworks in the City

Per City of Fairfield Municipal Ordinance, the use, sale and discharge of fireworks within the Fairfield city limits is prohibited.

Prohibited products include any pyrotechnic material classified as "dangerous fireworks" and/or "safe and sane fireworks" as defined in the California Health and Safety Code.

No person or organization shall sell, use, possess and/or discharge in the city any fireworks, including, but not limited to, dangerous fireworks and safe and sane fireworks subject to the following exceptions:

1. A public display of fireworks, including, but not limited to, dangerous fireworks and safe and sane fireworks in the City provided that the person or organization is properly licensed and strictly complies with all applicable provisions of this chapter, all regulations adopted by the Fire Chief, all City resolutions and ordinances, all provisions of the Health and Safety Code, and receives authorization of the fire code official for the public displays of fireworks.
2. Any special item containing pyrotechnic compositions which the State Fire Marshal (SFM), with the advice of the State Advisory Board, has investigated and determined to be limited to industrial, commercial, agricultural use, or religious ceremonies when authorized by a permit granted by the fire code official and is classified as "exempt fireworks" in the Health and Safety Code.

Party Poppers and Snap Caps

"Party Poppers" and "Snap Caps" are classified by the SFM as a "pyrotechnic device" in accordance with state fireworks laws and regulations.

However, these pyrotechnic devices should not be confused with other fireworks devices such as "Dangerous Fireworks" or "Safe and Sane Fireworks" within the same laws and regulations.

These devices are not regulated as "Dangerous" or "Safe and Sane" fireworks.

"Party Poppers" and "Snap Caps" are legal for sale and use within the Fairfield City limits.  Please use responsibly, and per the manufacturers instructions.
