Gang Prevention

On July 24, 2009, the City of Fairfield received an order from Judge David E. Power granting a preliminary injunction against the Norteño criminal street gang. The preliminary gang injunction includes a 4.19 square mile "safety zone" in Fairfield. The safety zone, shown below, prohibits known members of the Norteño criminal street gang from:

• associating with other known Norteño gang members
• intimidating witnesses of Norteño gang activity
• carrying firearms or dangerous weapons
• damaging property by graffiti or possessing graffiti tools
• staying away from alcohol or drugs
• trespassing on property without written consent
• obeying cerfew
• obeying all laws

Any Norteño that has been served with an injunction can opt out of the injuction by fulfilling certain terms of an " Opt Out Provision."
