Hazardous and Special Waste Products

Solano Garbage Company operates Solano Recycle, BOPA collection, and Household Hazardous Waste Collection at their Industrial Court facility. Call 707.437.8900 for additional information, hours of operations, and any restrictions that may apply.
Electronic Waste (E-Waste)

Solano Recycle accepts up to five items per month per household of electronic waste (E-Waste) from Fairfield residents. Proof of residency is required. Hours are M-F, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. (closed noon-1 p.m.)

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

Household Hazardous Waste Collection is offered at Solano Garbage Company every second and fourth Saturday of the month. This service is free of charge to Fairfield residents. Please call 707.437.8971 to schedule your appointment.  Fairfield businesses that qualify as Small Quantity Generators may dispose of their HHW at Solano Garbage Company for a small fee. Medical Waste and Sharps

Medical Waste includes items such as hypodermic needles and lancets--also called "sharps", medical supplies such as I.V. bags and tubing, and both over-the-counter and prescription medication. Pharmaceutical waste can include unused or expired medication, over-the-counter and prescription medication, and vitamins and/or supplements for humans or pets. Please check with your pharmacy to see if they will take back any unused medication or check the newspaper for local pharmaceutical Take-Back events.

Recycling Used Motor Oil & Used Oil Filters -   
1.) Drop off your used motor oil at a  Certified Used Oil Collection Center. Most collection centers also accept your used oil filter for recycling. Please check to see which centers accept filters, and recycle!  
2.) Curbside Pickup of Used Motor Oil & Used Oil Filters 

Fairfield residents may receive free curbside collection of used motor oil and used oil filters.
1) Contact Solano Recycle to get your free used motor oil collection container and a filter collection bag.
2) Fill the collection container with your used motor oil, and drain all the oil from the oil filter, and place the filter in the filter collection bag.
3) Place the container and used oil filter (in the bag) next to your recycling carts on collection day. 

A new collection container and filter bag will be delivered to you when the old one is picked up. Please note that your used motor oil MUST be in the authorized collection container and collection bag from Solano Garbage or it will not be picked up.

3.) BOPA Collection Facility (Batteries, Oil, Paint and Antifreeze)

Used motor oil and oil filters may also be taken to the local BOPA facility. Batteries, cooking oil, motor oil, oil filters, paint, and antifreeze can be taken free-of-charge to the BOPA facility located at Solano Recycle from M-F 8 a.m.-4 p.m. (closed noon-1), and Sat. 9 a.m.-noon.

Proof of residency is required.
