The Green Team brings together representatives of various City departments who are researching and leveraging Federal and State funding opportunities. The City of Fairfield is in the midst of developing and implementing a number of exciting sustainability initiatives. Some of the capital projects that the City is pursuing at little to no cost to the City include:
- A solar array for the Allan Witt Sports Center (Resolution No. 2009-267)
- Installation of lighting improvements to City facilities (Resolution No. 2009-268) that will save the City approximately 249,482 kWh of electricity and approximately $30,000 per year in energy costs
- The conversion of the City’s street and pedestrian lights (Resolution No. 2009-269) that will save the City at least 1.9 million kWh of electricity and generate annual energy savings of $240,000
- The City has joined the CaliforniaFIRST Program that enables property owners to finance energy and water conservation/efficiency projects, as well as renewable energy projects, through property assessments. The CaiforniaFIRST Program will be available to the community Spring/Summer 2010.
