The City of Fairfield is in the midst of developing and implementing a number of exciting sustainability initiatives. Some of the capital projects that the City is pursuing at little to no cost to the City include: - A solar array for the Allan Witt Sports Center (Resolution No. 2009-267)
- Installation of lighting improvements to City facilities (Resolution No. 2009-268) that will save the City approximately 249,482 kWh of electricity and approximately $30,000 per year in energy costs
- The conversion of the City’s street and pedestrian lights (Resolution No. 2009-269) that will save the City at least 1.9 million kWh of electricity and generate annual energy savings of $240,000
- The City has joined the CaliforniaFIRST Program that enables property owners to finance energy and water conservation/efficiency projects, as well as renewable energy projects, through property assessments. The CaiforniaFIRST Program will be available to the community Spring/Summer 2010.
