Stormy, rainy weather and possible flooding expected in Solano County and the entire Bay Area starting late Tuesday afternoon, January 26. It is expected to rain through the weekend and into early next week, with the exception of Friday, January 29. FLASH FLOOD WATCH
To report any localized flooding, downed power lines, or trees call Public Works at 428-7407. For storm readiness information, visit www.fairfield.ca.gov/storm
City of Fairfield residents and business owners can pick up sandbags from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and every other Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fairfield's Public Works Corporation Yard, 420 Gregory Street.
There is a 10-bag limit per Fairfield resident. Sand will be available at two locations: the corner of Pittman and Cordelia Roads, and the southeast corner of Allan Witt Park off Woolner Avenue.
Bring your own shovels as these sand bagging locations are “self-serve.” Sandbags are also available to purchase at local hardware stores. Sandbags should be filled only half full. Smaller bags pack tighter, and are easier to handle, thus avoiding back injuries. Overfilled bags are unstable when stacked and can leave gaps that allow water to flow through.
