| | | | | Mayor Price was an English teacher at Vanden High School for 33 years. During his last 10 years in the classroom, he extended his service to the public on Fairfield's Community Services Commission. Subsequently, he served on City commissions until his election to the City Council in 1997, and then was elected as Mayor in 2005.
As the Distinguished Citizen of the Year award recipient, the Chamber lauded Price for his stalwart service to government and business. He attends and participates in as many community events and meetings as possible, and one of the most important to the Chamber is Price's regular attendance at their monthly Chamber Board of Directors meeting. Mayor Price continually provides the Chamber with important municipal updates and maintains an open door for listening to feedback, suggestions, and questions from the business community.
In addition to his service in City government, Price has been twice elected president of the Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District, is active in the League of California Cities and elected president of the North Bay Division in 2002. He also served as president of the California Association of Sanitary Agencies and as a member of the Association's Board of Directors.
The Chamber's Outgoing Chair, Barry Young, remarked that "Harry always seems to have the time to come up to you and say hi...he makes you feel like you're treated as gold."
