The 2017 Coast and Creek Cleanup Day is on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event marks the 33rd anniversary of the California Coastal Cleanup Day program, making this one of the longest running, and largest volunteer events in the state.
Did you know that most of the debris found on our local waterways and coastal beaches actually start as litter on streets? It is carried into waterways and eventually out to the ocean. That's why the Coast and Creek Cleanup is a very important event, where children and adults come together to rid our creeks of bottles, plastic bags, newspapers, aluminum cans, tires, shopping carts, and countless other items that have been thoughtlessly strewn along the local waterways.
Last year, the local effort collected over 19,000 pounds of trash and nearly 3,000 lbs. of recyclables! Register to volunteer at one of several locations in the Fairfield-Suisun area. The Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District hopes to make this the highest volunteer participation event ever!
