City offers new tool for business and property owners

Business and property owners in Downtown and West Texas Street that are interested in improving the appearance of their buildings or adding outdoor seating or new signage can now get help from the City of Fairfield.

The City’s Façade Improvement Program, approved by the City Council in late March 2018, will contribute to the ongoing revitalization in the Heart of Fairfield Plan area. Business and property owners can apply for funding to improve exterior building facades, add outdoor seating, or install non-temporary business building signage. The City Council authorized a $150,000 budget for the 50/50 matching grant program.

Adopted by the City Council in May 2017, the Heart of Fairfield Plan is a vision for the revitalization and transformation of the Downtown and West Texas Street areas. The Plan outlines a strategic approach for how to achieve appropriate new development, public infrastructure and transportation improvements, amenities, and public safety enhancements. The Heart of Fairfield Plan is a tool that will be used by the City of Fairfield, its residents, and the business community to help shape a vibrant city center over the next two decades and beyond.

Interested business owners and commercial property owners are encouraged to meet with the City’s Economic Development Division and can download the program flyer and guidelines from this website.
