Fairfield is accepting applications for three seats on the Measure P Oversight Committee. These three, five-year terms begin July 1, 2018, and end June 30, 2023. Applicants must be Fairfield residents and taxpayers.
Applications are available at the City Clerk’s Office at Fairfield City Hall, 1000 Webster Street, 4th floor. Download the application, or request one by mail or email by contacting Deputy City Clerk Eva Hoff at (707) 428-7402. Completed applications may be submitted via mail, email, or in person.
The City is not responsible for lost or misdirected applications. Applications received after the deadline, including postmarks, will not be accepted. A timely filed application will remain on file for one year if the applicant is not appointed as a committee member. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2018.
In November 2012, Fairfield voters passed Measure P, a one-cent transaction and use tax ordinance. In November 2016, Fairfield voters extended it through March 31, 2033. The ordinance directs the City Council to establish a five-member oversight committee to review expenditures of revenues collected pursuant to the ordinance. The committee shall also review the annual audit of the sales tax funds and other City financial reports necessary to advise the City Council of its findings. The role of the committee is an advisory role with no decision-making authority. The committee shall meet a minimum of once a year. The term of office shall be a staggered five-year term, beginning on July 1 and ending on June 30.
