Fairfield welcomes new Human Resources director

City Manager David White announced the appointment of Farbod Pirouzmand to head the City’s Human Resources Department, following the retirement of current Director Allison Picard.

“We are glad to find human resources professional with the varied experience of Farbod,” expressed City Manager David White. “I expect him to be an excellent support to our employees and a valued addition to our executive management team.”

Pirouzmand has over 10 years of human resources experience and is currently the deputy director of Human Resources for the City of Hayward. He was previously the Human Resources manager for the Port of Oakland, and spent three years with the City and County of San Francisco as a labor relations specialist. Prior to joining city government, Pirouzmand spent six years working for the California Association of Professional Employees, Local 21 as a research coordinator and employee representative.

Pirouzmand earned graduate degrees from University of Southern California in political science and from the University of San Francisco in financial analysis. He completed the Negotiations Master Class at Harvard Law School, and currently serves on the board of the International Public Management Association.

Upon his appointment, Pirouzmand said, “I’m very excited and extremely pleased to be joining the Fairfield team and look forward to supporting our employees and managers who provide a wide variety of outstanding services to the Fairfield community.”

Pirouzmand is poised to assume this position on January 7, 2019.
