The mission of the Art in Public Spaces Policy is to establish a clear and inspiring framework for the development, implementation, and stewardship of public art throughout the city of Fairfield. This policy aims to integrate art into the daily life of the community by guiding projects that reflect Fairfield’s rich history, cultural diversity, shared values, and collective aspirations. Through thoughtful planning and collaboration, Fairfield seeks to expand the presence and impact of public art across civic spaces, making art accessible, engaging, and reflective of its people.

 OBJECTIVES

  • Develop and Sustain a Comprehensive Public Art Collection
    Establish and maintain a dynamic and evolving collection of public art that significantly enhances Fairfield’s urban environment and the aesthetic quality of its public spaces.

  • Cultivate Inclusive and Strategic Community Partnerships
    Engage collaboratively with local artists, cultural organizations, institutions, and community members to advance inclusive, community-driven artistic initiatives that authentically represent Fairfield’s diverse cultural heritage.

  • Expand the Integration of Public Art Across Civic Spaces
    Implement a strategic approach to increasing the presence of public art throughout neighborhoods, parks, streetscapes, and public facilities, with particular emphasis on supporting the revitalization of the Heart of Fairfield district.

  • Enhance Civic Engagement and Quality of Life Through Art
    Utilize public art as a means to foster civic pride, facilitate cultural dialogue, promote community engagement, and contribute to the overall well-being of residents and visitors.
