System for Award Management (SAM)

When Travis personnel need to make purchases above the Government Purchase Card limits, they must have a purchase order or contract. To learn what Travis needs to purchase and how they purchase it, register with the federal government’s System for Award Management (SAM). Federal Acquisition Regulations require that contractors register via SAM before they can be awarded any contract. Vendors will be assigned a Contractor and Government Entity (CAGE) code after SAM registration.

For purchases $3,000 to $25,000, Travis personnel must get three price quotes.

For purchases over $25,000, Travis personnel must seek open bid solicitations. Anyone in the country can bid on these solicitations.
