City of Fairfield Completed PBID/CBID Feasibility Study
The City of Fairfield entered into a contracted with New City America to complete a feasibility study as to whether property owners and businesses would be open to a new or revised CBID/PBID to help maintain the new improvements and add more events, amenities, or services to the Downtown.
The Downtown trash can “Monsters” arrive (Aug 2025)
The City replaced its old open-top trashcans with new Big Belly trash cans to help eliminate the ability for trash to be blown and pulled out of the bins and spill onto the street and sidewalks. The new trashcans were then adorned with colorful “Monsters” to help engage the community to dispose of trash responsibly. Residents participated in a Name the Monster contest and won gift cards to downtown restaurants.
Glashoff sculptures and sting lighting is installed in Downtown (July 2025)
Local artist Phillip Glashoff donated 5 unique and whimsical sculptures to be installed in the Downtown. Mr. Glashoff donated the sculptures as a way of giving back to the community and encouraging others to do the same.
Phase 1B Phase of the Downtown Streetscape Project is completed (June 2025)
The new sidewalks were reopened, the pavers repaired, and the new trees installed. The completion of Phase 1B was commemorated al the Independence Day Parade with a ribbon cutting inviting residents and guests to their new and improved Downtown.
Phase 1B of the Downtown Streetscape Project starts (Feb 2025)
Phase 1B marks the replacement of the sidewalks, repair of the pavers, tree replacement, and infrastructure improvements.
City Establishes Bi-weekly Portering Services in Downtown (Nov 2024)
To ensure the area remained clean and attractive during and after construction, the City signed a contract with City Wide Property Services to provide portering services twice a week as well as remove graffiti and illegal signage on light posts and amenities.
Phase 1A of the Downtown Streetscape Project is completed (April 2024)
Phase1A involved the removal of old unused amenities such as pergolas, flowerpots, and benches to open sidewalks for public art, more pedestrian paths, and outdoor dining areas.
City of Fairfield introduces the Façade Improvement Program (March 2018)
Provides financial assistance to property owners wanting to make façade improvements, install or update signage, or add outdoor dining areas.
City council approves the Heart of Fairfield Specific Plan (May 2017)
Allows for rezoning to encourage new businesses.
