Critelli Olive Oil: Opened a 92,568 SF manufacturing/production facility that created 20 to 30 jobs.

Formaggi Di Ferrante: Opened a 8,600 SF space in Western Business Park that included production facilities and a café serving pizza and Italian dishes. The facility created 5 new jobs.

Heretic Brewery: Purchased a 24,200 SF building. The expanded production facility also included a brew pub with a full menu and the build out of a indoor dining room. 5 to 10 jobs were created.

Just Desserts: Opened a 75,000 SF manufacturing/production facility after relocating from a a 35,000 SF facility in Oakland. The facility opened, and created 100 new jobs.

The Economic Development Division managed the administration of the Small Business Grant Program in 2020. Council established this emergency grant program to help small businesses mitigate costs relating to the impacts of COVID-19. 

Under the program, the City awarded grants ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 to qualifying small businesses that met established program requirements. A total of $430,000 in CARES Act funds provided grants to 79 small businesses as a part of the program. 

North Bay’s Emerging Business & Industry Hub 

Fairfield’s food and beverage manufacturing sector is one the strongest in the region. Testament to this are globally recognized companies like Anheuser-Busch and Jelly Belly Candy Co. that call Fairfield home. Contributions abound from local manufacturers to such an extent they provide nearly 10% of total employment in the city. 

In celebration of this sector, the Economic Development Division coordinated the launch of a multi-pronged marketing campaign, in partnership with the Marketing and Outreach Division (MOD), for Bay Area Manufacturing Week 2021 (October 1 – 8, 2021).

Economic Development staff worked closely with MOD to develop a marketing strategy, engage businesses and strategic partners, and create marketing content for the campaign. A primary goal of the campaign was to begin positioning Fairfield as North Bay's emerging business and industry hub to help attract food and beverage manufacturers to Fairfield - a focus of the economic development strategic plan. Content was shared on all city communication platforms including videos highlighting food and beverage businesses located in Fairfield (video links below).

Cole Supply Company, Inc. relocated to Solano Business Park from Benicia, CA. Economic Development Division followed up on a lead that the largest distributor of janitorial, cleaning, and facility supplies in Northern California since 1967 was looking for a new location to move its corporate headquarters.  Following a business attraction site visit performed by the Economic Development team along with several later conversations, highlighting the benefits of relocating to Fairfield, Cole Supply Company, Inc., moved into a building they purchased at 2750 Maxwell Way. The relocation brings 78 existing jobs to the City of Fairfield and an expansion of the sales tax base by generating approximately $30 Million in annual sales.

Automotive partnership team to establish and operate Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram Auto Dealership in Fairfield, CA.

After months of searching for the perfect location for a new auto dealership, Future Automotive Group and Hansel Automotive Group have purchased a property located in the Fairfield Auto Mall at 2595 Auto Mall Parkway, Fairfield, CA. The property now serves as the home of Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram.    

City of Fairfield staff members supported the new auto dealership by assisting with the permitting process. In describing the City of Fairfield’s business attraction efforts, Henry Hansel, President and CEO of Hansel Auto Group, stated, “This is a classy city.”   

The automotive partnership team consists of Future Automotive Group and the Hansel Automotive Group. The partnership team estimates yearly sales will generate substantial sales tax revenue for the city’s general fund and create quality jobs with benefits. 

The Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram dealership joins several new dealerships in the Fairfield Auto Mall providing a new synergy amongst all the dealerships.  

The Economic Development Division successfully completed disposition of several Successor Agency owned properties in the Green Valley Corporate Park. In 2020, Economic Development staff negotiated and sold approximately ±28 acres in the Green Valley area with combined sales proceeds for the transactions totaling $7,102,805. Solano County will distribute these sale proceeds to all taxing entities within the county.

Several of the sold properties give rise to economic development projects including a proposed fire station and a 258-unit multifamily residential project that is currently under construction. An estimate of private investment for the residential project totals over $65M with both direct and indirect economic development benefits that include the creation of jobs and the collection of building and planning permit fees for the city.
