Closing the Digital Divide in Fairfield
Free digital skills classes for Solano County adults — in-person or virtual, in the language you know best. The City of Fairfield is committed to ensuring all residents can fully participate in today's digital world — from accessing healthcare online to job searching and staying connected with loved ones.
Powered by Solano Connected
Solano Connected, launched in Fall 2023 and powered by American Rescue Plan Act funding, is the county’s first coordinated, county‑wide digital equity initiative. It serves as the backbone for a broad coalition — including the City of Fairfield, digitalLIFT, Tech Exchange, and community‑based organizations — all working together to close the digital divide for good.
A recent study revealed the scale of the challenge:
- 6,600 households in Solano County lack a computer
- 12,300 households are without home internet
These gaps are driven by a mix of affordability barriers, limited access to devices, and the need for stronger digital skills. Solano Connected was built to tackle all three.
