The Fairfield Fire Department sponsors a fire explorer post for youth, 14 yrs old (attending High School) through their 21st birthday. The post meets every other week. Youth will participate in a variety of activities, such as First Aid, CPR training, introductory firefighting and rescue techniques, hiking, camping, and various community service projects. This is an excellent opportunity for the youth to be part of a challenging, well-respected, and giving organization.
There are four specific goals of the Fire Explorer program:
- Gain practical experience in the career or special interest of the post.
- Engage in a program of activities centered on the six experience areas (leadership, service, social, fitness, outdoor, and career) to encourage the development of the whole person.
- Experience positive leadership from adult and youth leaders and be given opportunities to take on leadership roles.
- Have a chance to learn and grow in a supportive, caring, and fun environment.
