National Night Out is historically held the 1st Tuesday in August, Solano County and other areas will be recognizing NNO the first Tuesday in October.

The Fairfield Police Department, Fire Department, and The City of Fairfield will be celebrating National Night Out Tuesday, October 6th, 2026. National Night Out is a program designed to promote police/community partnerships and heighten crime prevention awareness to generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts. i.e. Neighborhood Watch.

National Night Out is designed to:

• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships.
• Heighten crime prevention awareness.
• Generate support for, and participation in, local crime prevention efforts.
• Build connections within the community and get to know your neighbors!

We appreciate the work our neighborhoods have done to plan for National Night Out each year and look forward to seeing you soon. 

Interested in hosting a National Night Out Event?  The common way to participate in National Night Out is to organize a block or neighborhood party.  During the hours of 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. on National Night out, residents in neighborhoods throughout Fairfield are encouraged to lock their doors, turn on outside lights, and spend an evening outside with neighbors and Fairfield Police, Fire, and City Officials. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events. Get ready to share crime prevention tips and have some neighborhood fun!

Register for National Night Out in 3 easy steps:

Step 1- Register with the City of Fairfield!  You must register with us for Fairfield Police, Fire, and City Officials to join your National Night Out Party!  The first 10 hosts will receive a custom Fairfield Police Department YETI Tumbler. 

Not required, but we do strongly recommend also registering your event with natw.org for a National Night Out Toolkit and event materials which will help you plan your event.  Here you will be able to obtain the tools you need to receive donations and sponsorships.  Additionally, you are able to purchase NNO swag for your event!  

Remember you MUST register with City of Fairfield.

Registration will close September 4th, 2026.  Late registration will not be accepted.

Step 2-  Start planning your event with your neighbors!  The safest neighborhoods are typically the ones where everyone knows each other and are committed to looking out for one another. Use National Night Out to share current crime trends in your neighborhood and form a communal plan to use crime prevention efforts to reduce the opportunities of crime on your street.  National Night Out is a perfect opportunity to talk about starting a Neighborhood Watch Group!  

Step 3- Say goodbye to crime by having a "going away party"! Invite your neighbors, Police, Fire, and the City of Fairfield to join in on your National Night Out event.  Have fun with your theme, block party, ice cream social, you name it!  No matter how big or small!  We can't wait to meet with you!
