Director of Public Works

The Director of Public Works plans, organizes, directs and reviews the activities and operations of the Public Works department including engineering, building, transportation, operations, and water; to coordinate assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies; and to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager.  

Sanjay Mishra joined the City of Fairfield on November 4, 2024. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and is a licensed Civil and Traffic Engineer in California. With over 30 years of experience in civil engineering, construction management, and transportation project delivery, Sanjay has successfully led major infrastructure projects across the United States, Singapore, and India. Most recently, Sanjay served as the Public Works Director and City Engineer for the City of Pinole. He has also held key positions within local agencies, including Program Manager at the Napa Valley Transportation Authority and Senior Civil Engineer in Petaluma.
