Lot Line Adjustments and Mergers

A lot line adjustment is the relocation of an existing property line, between two or more parcels, without creating any additional parcels. A lot merger is the joining of two or more contiguous parcels under the same ownership, into one resulting parcel. These applications must comply with the City’s Municipal Code and the State Subdivision Map Act. These applications must first be approved by the Community Development Department’s Planning Division and second by the Public Works Department’s Engineering Divsion.

How to Apply

Submit a “Lot Line Adjustment/Lot Merger (Planning)” application on BUILD. When the lot line adjustment / lot merger is approved by the Planning Department, an approval letter will be issued.
After receiving an approval letter from the Planning Department, submit a “Lot Line Adjustment/Lot Merger (Public Works)” application on BUILD for review by the Public Works Department. Required submittal materials include an approval letter issued by the Planning Department, plat, legal description, closure calculations, and title report.
If the application is deemed complete, fees will be invoiced on BUILD. Pay the application and review fees on BUILD. Once paid, comments regarding the submittal materials, if any, will be returned within four weeks.
After all comments have been addressed, staff will contact you regarding next steps to send a signed Notice of Lot Line Adjustment or Lot Merger to the Public Works Department. The Notice will be processed for signature by the City and recordation.
