The Fairfield Fire Department will host a Grand Opening Ceremony / Open House for Fire Station 35’s new location on Thursday, June 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. Station 35 was previously housed at a temporary, leased site in Cordelia before transitioning to its permanent home at 600 Lopes Road.
The open house will feature a brief ceremony with Honor Guard at 6:15 p.m. Following the ceremony, the popular “Kids Obstacle Course”, Station 35 tours, free smoke detectors, a photo booth, kids goodie bags, an opportunity to meet firefighters as well as Smokey and Sparky, and free hot dogs, popcorn, and other refreshments will be available. In addition, citizens will have an opportunity to sign up for free smoke detector home installation appointments in August or November.
Fairfield Fire Department has continued to proudly serve the city’s ever-increasing population with five fire stations, of which Station 35 is one, since 1994. During this 23-year period, annual service call volume has nearly tripled, going from 4,233 calls for service to over 12,000 today.
Parking for the event is available at Rodriguez High School. A shuttle will begin running between locations at 5:30 p.m. for your convenience.
